Show of hands. How many of you reacted to the news of Charlie Kirk’s death and decided to hop on social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and celebrate it? Ok, since your hand is now raised, go ahead and slap yourself. Now, how many of you lost your job as a result of your actions? Slap yourself again. You deserve it.

The fallout of the Charlie Kirk assassination has had its positives and negatives. For the purposes of this post, let’s focus on the negatives that have revealed the ugly side of civilized society (and I’m not sure if civilized is really the correct term). These people still make these nasty remarks and act in a hostile way towards conservatives because of the continued false narrative that has been pushed by Leftist politicians and the mainstream media. When you convince your voter base that the other side is truly evil and is the epitome of some history’s worst villains, the resulting violence should be expected.

Radical progressives like AOC, Ilhan Omar, Jasmine Crockett, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have doubled-down on their rhetoric saying that conservatives, notably MAGA, is a threat to democracy through their violent messaging.

You can find their words pretty much anywhere. For now, let’s keep the attention on those who sink to such lows as to celebrate the loss of life.

The crazy thing is, the most unhinged amongst us would make threats towards the current administration or those advocating on their behalf and think that is alright. Their playbook would consist of spreading lies and misinformation about someone simply because their ideology did not agree with them. Just because someone practices Christian values, does not agree with the LBGTQ lifestyle and has a pro-life stance does not make them a racist or homophobic.

So, where was the accountability?

Look at the past few years and how celebrities made threats towards President Trump that was along the lines of inciting violence. Who can forget Kathy Griffin’s infamous photo with a fake, severed head of Trump? Madonna made a comment about blowing up the White House. Robert DeNiro wanted to punch the president in the face. Even Joe Biden said something to that affect during the 2024 campaign. Yet, nothing happened and these clowns did not face any repercussions.

This kind of imagery, commentary and thought process only emboldens others. They either parrot the rhetoric or take action. Despite the attempted assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Butler, PA or the execution of Charlie Kirk in Utah, nobody on the other side seems to have learned from their actions. Some have even doubled-down, saying that Kirk got what he deserved. It’s a very alarming trend and it needs to be dealt with accordingly.

The threats of violence have gone as far as calling for the execution of Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika.

This is truly sick and evil. What kind of person condones this, let alone suggests it? I wish I could say that was the extent of the sickness that has plagued a good number of people in this country and perhaps around the world. One image showed a 3D model of Charlie Kirk after being hit by the assassin’s bullet. It has since been revealed that model was AI generated, but it is very telling about what is within someone’s heart. Another one showed an image of a blood-covered child with a mention of his blood on his daughter’s face. These people are disgustingly grotesque and should be called out for it.

Which they have been.

Social media has been lighting up with people calling out these degenerates and putting them on blast. The end result has seen many of them lose their jobs. Teachers, nurses, doctors, judges and even the military have all felt the repercussions of posting insensitive remarks on social media. The horrific thing about this is how some of these teachers have probably voiced their political views to their students instead of keeping it to themselves. One even showed her class the video of Kirk’s assassination. How would you feel if that were your child?

Politics should always stay out of the classroom. Students are there to learn, not be indoctrinated. Unfortunately, there are too many people out there who are eager to voice their opinion whether it was asked for or not. The same principle should be applied to anywhere simply because politics are a very divisive subject. But, if you’re going to voice your opinion, you should be ready for those who will dissent. Such was the case of the New Jersey nurse who was suspended from her job after she called out a doctor on his inappropriate comments around her and a patient.

Normally, losing your job based on your ideology or political views should not warrant a person losing their job, even if it was done during their off time on social media. However, if that ideology devalues human life and consists of comments encouraging the violent removal of others, then you absolutely deserve to lose your job. Also, making a video of your meltdown isn’t a good look. It just shows us that in addition to being a detestable human being, you are also incapable of owning your mistakes. Then, you have this clown, who felt the need to both double-down on his/her rhetoric and ask for people to fund his/her unemployment.

People like this miss the point of free speech. Sure, you can say what you want. However, if your employer knew that you were the type of person to advocate for violence during the interview process, you would not have been hired. Own your actions and take accountability. Stop blaming others for your lack of decorum and common decency.

Remember how regular people were being “cancelled” due to old posts that someone went digging for just so they could ruin their life? This is karma. Regarding the above tweet, what is happening now is not cancel culture. You lost your job because you suck as a human being. I served during the start and middle of the Global War on Terror and had I advocated for the inhumane treatment or outright execution of Muslim prisoners (even those who were confirmed terrorists), I would expect to be disciplined accordingly.

In the days that have followed, vigils have been set up and disrupted by others who had a problem with Charlie Kirk. One resulted in a Texas Tech student being arrested and subsequently suspended. Conservative setups that have pledged to continue Charlie Kirk’s mission have been vandalized and met with hostility from those who simply do not agree with conservative values.

Actions have consequences. It seems that a lot of people do not understand that or are so committed to their beliefs, they feel they are right. Sure, think what you want. Have a difference of opinion. Ask questions. Debate. Agree to disagree. Just know that violence is not the answer and celebrating it just makes you look like an abhorrent human being.
